MOCIL Launches a Website That Cares

Serving Benton, Henry, Johnson, Lafayette, Pettis and Saline County, Missouri.

Missouri Centers for Independent Living (MOCIL) provides networking and advocacy support for the 22 Centers for Independent Living in Missouri.  After many months of collaborative efforts from our MOCIL members and JB Creatives LLC, MOCIL is pleased to announce the recent launch of our new Consumer Directed Services (CDS) website, cds.mocil.org.   We focused on creating a valuable and user-friendly experience because we know it can be overwhelming when you come to a point in your life when you need assistance to live independently at home.

CDS helped me maintain independence in my home.

MOCIL President, Pat Chambers, from the Heartland Independent Living Center in Owensville, says, “Centers for Independent Living can offer participants the usual services of a CDS provider and a wealth of additional services that assist people with disabilities programs and services to live independently in their own homes, in their own communities.”

MOCIL’s primary goal was to create a central resource where Missourians can find Consumer Directed Services offered by the original state-certified CDS vendors, Centers For Independent Living. CDS is a Medicaid-based program that provides personal care attendant services to individuals with disabilities. We believe that personal choice is a key. With the CDS program, participants are given the freedom to hire their own caregivers, family or non-family, based on their needs. Participants receive resources to find caregivers to provide support with everyday activities, such as cooking and cleaning.

“Centers are some of the best CDS providers in the state, “ says Missouri Medicaid Audit and Compliance Director, Dale Carr.

Centers for Independent Living are regional destinations in Missouri for people with disabilities seeking in-home resources. Consumer Directed Services is just one of the supports that empowers people with disabilities to have the choice to control any changes in the services they need to live independently at home in their community.

MOCIL invites visitors to discover the services available in their community at cds.mocil.org.
