WILS Announces Intent to Apply for Transportation Funding to Support Rural Mobility

Serving Benton, Henry, Johnson, Lafayette, Pettis and Saline County, Missouri.

Warrensburg, MO — October 28, 2025 — West-Central Independent Living Solutions (WILS) has announced its intent to apply for financial assistance from the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) through the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Section 5310 Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities Program.

WILS, a private nonprofit organization, empowers people with disabilities to achieve and maintain their independence. The proposed funding will help support and expand transportation services for older adults and individuals with disabilities in the rural counties of Benton, Henry, Johnson, Lafayette, Pettis, and Saline.

These services are designed to enhance access to essential destinations such as medical appointments, employment, shopping, and community activities, particularly in areas where public transportation is limited or unavailable.

“This funding would allow WILS to continue bridging critical transportation gaps in our rural communities,” said Deb Hobson, Executive Director of WILS. “Reliable, accessible transportation is essential to maintaining independence and quality of life for the people we serve.”

WILS is seeking to coordinate with other public, private, and nonprofit transportation providers, human service agencies, and members of the public. Interested organizations or individuals who wish to request additional information, offer coordination, or submit comments regarding the proposal are encouraged to contact:
